<itunes:summary>Lucidflow music is an ongoing electronic meditation where a musical and spiritual family
is given the platform to explore their true ideas.

In mid 2009 Nadja and Helmut took control of their output through their own label.
Simply Lucid; bright, clear, deep, conscious and FLOW; a flowing energy & creativity.

Both as their double act Klartraum and individually the label bosses both love deep,
elegant and moving tracks. Expression, deepness, groove, feeling, healing, sound quality
and significance is the focus on what they want to spread through Lucidflow and their
message has been received by the world’s most respected DJs. Their complex and
beautiful journeys into sound take listeners and dancers into a trance like state, lucid and
aware of their actions but able to recognize signs and contort them to discover themselves
afresh.

With over 25 years production experience between them, Nadja and Helmut’s ear for
quality, well produced sound means that their message rings ever truer in the ears of
their followers. Artists who have released on Lucidflow include Alex Kaddour, Carlos
Sanchez & DJ Ray, G-Man aka Gez Varley, Terry Francis, Steve Rachmad aka Sterac, Hatikvah,
Onur Ozman, Paul Loraine, Silicone Soul,
Silky, UGLH

Lucidflow was founded as the platform for Klartraum’s purest music and the tracks from
the label bosses adhere to the integral approach of Ken Wilber’s AQAL map. The label
is aiming to reach open minds – as some people have already recognized – to spread a
message: Of how to become more conscious, more empathic, aware, developed, open,
loving, couragous, and to link these personal developments for one uplifting flow.

Artist- and Remixpool : Klartraum, Nadja Lind, Hatikvah, Helmut Ebritsch, Silicone Soul, G-Man, Alex Kaddour, Goiko, Carlos Sanchez and DJ Ray, Ocean Gaya, Paul Loraine, UGLH, Silky Imprint Audio, Steve Rachmad, Mark Henning, Marek Hemman, Terry Francis, Mirzah-Zadeh, Penner, Chopstick & Johnjon, Hatikvah

They try to not deliver a copy of a copy of a copy but something that carries significance.
lucid = bright, clear, deep, conscious
flow = floating energy without any resistance</itunes:summary>

Helmut: The breakthrough of the next level of consciousness and the empowerment of women worldwide (also in the electronic music field).

Helmut: I also highly recommend to inform yourself about the voice dialogue technique from Hal and Sidra Stone and William Buhlman and his view on out of body experiences.

The Lucid Podcast 034…wicked dub set from Downunder! Thank you Dave Stuart!!! xxx

1. Lucidflow: How does a creative day look/feel like for you?

In a word busy…its not often I get as much time as Id like to work on music, at the moment im totally committed to djing, I am not overly concerned with production as of yet as I think production should be left to producers and djing to dj’s. I think there are way too many people trying to do both and only being able to be average at both (saying that though, there are a lot of exceptions to that…). I love djing and am not ready to start releasing tracks, so I want to leave that for a time in the future.

Okay that didn’t really answer the question did it? :P I think creativity cannot for forced, you are either are in the mood or you aren’t, though you have to give yourself the surroundings that allow you to be…

2. Lucidflow: How do you hinder yourself in being creative?

I love trying to broaden my mind as much as possible, this comes down to talking to as many different people as possible, reading books from all other the world, trying my best to give myself enough time to search & search for tracks….

Also I find coffee (in the mornings) and scotch (usually at night…) and my cat always put me in the right frame of mind.

3. Lucidflow: how do you support yourself in being creative?

In a simple answer by working too much, I always seem to have a million jobs and little projects on the go at one time. I have to have a 9-5 job to sustain my dj’ing, plus I also run events, and a touring company as well as DJing every weekend…..

4. Lucidflow: How did you come across Lucidflow?

My wonderful partner (and now wife…) was a massive fan of Nadjas music and was always showing me Nadja’s & Klartraum’s tunes and we both feel in love with the music. I was very happy to discover so much good music on the label, especially as I love the deeper dubby sounds. It was great to finally meet Nadja & Helmut last year when they toured Australia and stayed with us and played some gigs together.

5. Lucidflow: Tell us one of your greatest wishes:

I guess it’s a little clichéd, but id love to see more love in the world. If everyone tried to make everything they did in life to have a benefit for other people we’d all be a lot more happy.

we are over the moon to have Lulu Rouge from Denmark today offering you a terrific DUB session – hammock time!!! JAAAAH! THANK YOU GUYS – this mix was on repeat on my flight back from NY – perfect!

1. Lucidflow:how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

We meet up at nine in morning at the studio, having some breakfast and a small chat and then we go to “work”, being creative behind the computer and the other machines :) Around 13.00 we have some lunch and 30 min of chess just to clear the mind ! Then we go back to the play yard and work some more , and around 16.00 we take our bikes and ride home….Usually times flies super fast because we have fun, and once in a while there is also good music coming out of it :)

2. Lucidflow: How do you hinder yourself in being creative?

We are both dj’s and big music lovers so we spend loads of time (at least 2hours pr day)finding and listening to new music…..We also travel alot which gives us lots of new impressions and new sounds in our heads ! Another way to be creative is to be updated with new plugins & machines, which challenge yourself into trying new stuff and ideas. Reading music magazines and checking out youtube tutorials can also give a boost sometimes :)

3. Lucidflow: how do you support yourself in being creative?

You are sometimes your own worst enemy…..All the things, machine and methods you have learned to perfection and feel comfortable with, is sometimes what stops you exploring and being creative, because you tend to do what you have always done !

4. Lucidflow: How did you come across Lucidflow?

Our good friend Jean Von Baden played us a fantastic track from one of the Ludcidflow podcast .

5. Lucidflow: Tell us one of your greatest wishes:

Make sure everybody had shelter, food and the same rights all over the World….Peace, Love & Unity

6. Lucidflow: Anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

1. Lucidflow:how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

We meet up at nine in morning at the studio, having some breakfast and a small chat and then we go to "work", being creative behind the computer and the other machines :) Around 13.00 we have some lunch and 30 min of chess just to clear the mind ! Then we go back to the play yard and work some more , and around 16.00 we take our bikes and ride home....Usually times flies super fast because we have fun, and once in a while there is also good music coming out of it :)

2. Lucidflow: How do you hinder yourself in being creative?

We are both dj's and big music lovers so we spend loads of time (at least 2hours pr day)finding and listening to new music.....We also travel alot which gives us lots of new impressions and new sounds in our heads ! Another way to be creative is to be updated with new plugins & machines, which challenge yourself into trying new stuff and ideas. Reading music magazines and checking out youtube tutorials can also give a boost sometimes :)

3. Lucidflow: how do you support yourself in being creative?
You are sometimes your own worst enemy.....All the things, machine and methods you have learned to perfection and feel comfortable with, is sometimes what stops you exploring and being creative, because you tend to do what you have always done !

4. Lucidflow: How did you come across Lucidflow?

Our good friend Jean Von Baden played us a fantastic track from one of the Ludcidflow podcast .

5. Lucidflow: Tell us one of your greatest wishes:

Make sure everybody had shelter, food and the same rights all over the World....Peace, Love & Unity

Lucidflow:how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Interesting question and very open ended. Creativity I believe has a direct correlation to the environment in which you surround yourself in – it cannot be forced. Up until recently, I felt in some ways that I was doing this, as I had limited time to devote to creative pursuits, a direct result of balancing my time.
On a personal note, for nearly 8 years, I was a venue manager at one of Melbourne’s biggest house and techno clubs, Brown Alley. Almost my entire life revolved around running the event side of the business, including DJing, producing and event management, and at the same time, trying to write music, DJ each week, run a label, and travelling in between. For example, once I had a gig in Buenos Aires and I left Melbourne on a Wednesday stayed there for only one night then flew straight back to Melbourne, went straight from the airport to the club for my event that very night. These types of experiences definitely helped to build my character and I learned a great deal from my time there.
However, all of this left little time for my own creative pursuits, so I made the decision to leave last month and since then, I have found myself being very productive, positive, and much more spontaneous. For instance, the day after I left, I sat in a park with my laptop and a controller for hours and hours, experimenting with sound, something I never previously had the freedom to even consider! I’m very thankful for my experience throughout that time – the events, people, artists and good times shared definitely influenced my creativity and ambitions for the future. I never thought when I attended my first Sunny party at 19 years of age that it would change my life. I’ll never forget those days and I honestly believe when it comes to musical creativity, you always have a strong affinity with the sound you first fell in love with. I guess that’s why so much of my sound is associated with various forms of low slung, deep music.
Having said that, inspiration for me usually comes after heading out and watching a DJ that really takes it to the next level, and I equally get inspiration watching a DJ who is very uninspiring, one dimensional or pedestrian – it makes me want to write music. Every now and then, you see someone who completely changes your perspective on things and the experience stays with you forever. Recently I had the pleasure of seeing Andrew Weatherall play at a great club, Nu Guernica in Melbourne, and his approach instantly resonated with me. It reminded me of the uncompromising hypnotic style I heard played by the resident DJs at some of the first parties I attended, but with a modernised flavor and unique sleaze that was a game changer for me, big time. I admired Weatherall’s patience – standing on the floor, I gauged he was at 111 BPM 2 hours in, and the place was heaving – a true programmer who basically doesn’t give a fuck – I like that. I went home, showered from sweating up a storm – I haven’t danced 4 hours straight since I was a pup ;) and got to work in the studio. I’m inspired by DJs and producers who have the ability to interest me in a piece of music that outside of that context, I perhaps wouldn’t have considered, but the manner in which they play it, present it, or program then makes sense to me.
Phil K is a major influence for this reason also, along with his technical skills and ability to get himself out on any situation. He has taught me that there are no rules, and if you have the balls and ability to program music in a way that makes sense to you, then an audience will eventually trust you and will go wherever you take them.
The role of a DJ is to entertain, but it’s evident when there’s no self belief in what you play. I now hear things in a different way – whether it’s a vocal from one of my dad’s Persian records, or a sound score from a scene in a documentary, link -> https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/darius-bassiray-sound-score
https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/darius-bassiray-if-your-alone
It can work, you just need to find your balls and find your flavor. This happened recently – it was about 4am and I was watching rage on TV, and heard a riff from this Sade tune that was performed live – instantly I went and wrote a (tasteful I hope) re-edit / remix of it. know touching a piece of music such as this can be sacrilegious, i hope i kept and maintained the integrity of the original as well as giving it a bit of my own personal flavor. Link->
https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/sade-love-is-found-darius/comments
Matt Radovich is another source of inspiration for me due to his diverse range of music that he plays and his ability to adapt him self to any environment, I admire his attitude and demeanor which correlates directly to how he performs as an artist.
But the best way I can answer this question “what does creativity look / feel like” in a wider sense, is that in age of electronic music being more and more generic and dare I say easy to make, if you listen to an artist and can instantly identify their individual style, then this is the very essence of what this question means. Look at artists like Mathew Jonson, one chord and you know it’s him. Listen to a Habersham record or to James Holden, or Apparat record, same with Lusine – they don’t imitate, they innovate and do so in a manner that does not date –they are true artists. Good music will always have longevity and will remain timeless.
I am now at a point now where I can translate what I’m feeling creatively with greater ease, and with more time devoted to music this will only come more naturally to me I think.
External forces and factors play a big part in creativity and the quality of your output. I believe two of my favourite productions have been written under two dramatically different circumstances, one being tragic inspiration due to the recent death of my best friend’s brother. After spending the night with them after the funeral = I went home and wrote a record in one take, using an emotive vocal I spent hours sourcing and the track flowed naturally, Last week, it again invoked tears when I heard it played on John Digweed’s Transitions radio show – not something you can listen to every day but how can you control creativity? This will be a very special release on Text Book Music soon – link ->
https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/mike-callander-still-lost

https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/darius-bassiray-if-your-alone
Another example is a remix I made after being stuck in a hotel room for days far from home after playing in Melbourne the night before. The inspiration and environment in which these two records were written couldn’t have been more different, but this goes to show – the urge to create can come from all kind of places. Link->

I am not a producer who has 15000 unfinished projects, if I’m finding something doesn’t work then I bin it, simple.
In the end, life and everything it throws at you affects your output.

Lucidflow: How do you hinder yourself in being creative?

You mean what hinders me from being creative? Well, priorities play a big factor. Relationships and not neglecting those you love at the expense of making music, is something you learn over time. It is important to understand there needs to be a balance in all aspects involved in your life. Easier said than done sometimes however.

Lucidflow: how do you support yourself in being creative?

If you mean financially, well it’s not easy. I worked corporate for 2 years after studying at university but it was not something I enjoyed. I recently saw one of the most inspirational videos I have ever seen which sums up the answer to this question better than I could ever articulate in words. See it here ->
I then formed my own touring company, Funf – www.funf.com.au and am writing music. I recently got engaged, and all these decisions combined have me feeling the happiest I have ever been.

Lucidflow: How did you come across Lucidflow?

I first came across Nadja Lind through mutual friends in Melbourne and through SLAM who sent her my music as they thought she would like it.
I shared their music with my good friend Muska, and he fell in love with it, so we invited Nadja and Helmut to play at one of our event in Melbourne, along with Lusine and Robert Babicz. I am very thankful for the opportunity they have given me to present this podcast.
Although I do play a very ‘Lucidflow’ style of techno, my DJ scope is also very broad which is why I decided to do a 6 hr podcast for this. It will be split into two parts and played over the next month. It has been one of the biggest artistic challenges I have ever encountered in my musical career to be honest, a solid 5 month process. My goal was to showcase how I play when I am given an extended set time length which really only happens when I DJ outside of my home city Melbourne. The challenge not only was to present a cohesive well programmed set but to for it make sense if people only listen to it in sections as opposed to the full 6 hours which most may only listen to in full on long drives or at home at an after party for instance, Also as it features ambient , electronica, world music, deep house, techno, btrakbeat, and everything in between it really has been a challenge and extremely testing at times - but it was also very rewarding. I hope you guys like it. Big thanks must go to Rhonda, my fiancé, for being there for me throughout this challenge – I have enjoyed the experience. I also need to acknowledge all the artists – Habersham, Phil K, Jay Tripwire, Chris Fortier, Delic, Kriece, Sasha, Muska, Altruism, Paul Beynon, Mike Callander, Tornado Wallace and many others, who either wrote music especially for it, or gave me exclusive tracks. Most of all, thanks to Nadja Lind for her patience and Caroline Beynon for her support J

Lucidflow: Tell us one of your greatest wishes:

As cliche as it sounds, just to be happy in life and relationships, be content and to hopefully pass on some knowledge I’ve learned along the way to others who may get the same great opportunities I have been fortunate enough to have had thrown my way. Currently, I’m working in partnership with some other industry leaders, setting up a platform to do just that, so watch this space!

Lucidflow: Anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

Thanks for having me guys and I hope you like the podcast. The next 3 hours will air in a few weeks, watch this space. On the production front I have remix coming out on Haul Music soon -. link, I’ve just released a new record ‘Coma’ on Manual Music – link
https://soundcloud.com/darius-bassiray/darius-bassiray-coma
and I have an original “If You’re Lost I’ll Be Your Shadow’ coming out on Text Book Music with remixes from Jay Tripwire, Deepchild, Chris Fortier, Kasey Taylor, Habesham, Altruism, and Paul Beynon link -> as well as a remix for Kriece’s Kindred Sounds. I am also touring Europe for the first time in August so I’m really looking forward to that.
My new company Funf www.funf.com.au – and we have some really exciting events and tours with the likes of Jeff Mills, Axel Boman, Wbeeza, The Revenge, Cosmin TRG, Len Faki, Robert Hood, Chris Fortier, Oxia, Sasha Dive, Genius Of Time and many more coming up so im going to be a pretty busy man ;)
Im also in the process of launching my own website www.dariusbassiray.com and www.textbook-music.com
Thanks for your time J

Interesting question and very open ended. Creativity I believe has a direct correlation to the environment in which you surround yourself in - it cannot be forced. Up until recently, I felt in some ways that I was doing this, as I had limited time to devote to creative pursuits, a direct result of balancing my time.

how do you support yourself in being creative?

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

Taking orders from others… :-)

how did you come across Lucidflow?

Well, we had a dream of sharing our music with the world, that dream led us to Night Drive Music where we came across Klartraum and from there followed their work to Lucidfow.

Sanity for the world..!

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
When you feel feel what you are within, when you can see all colours of the rainbow. When we both catch that flow, every such day is a priceless heavenly experience.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
Philosophy, stars, nature, long walks, shared contemplation and spending time with animals. ….oh, yes and occasional chunk of fine chocholate..:)

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
Taking orders from others… :-)

how did you come across Lucidflow?
Well, we had a dream of sharing our music with the world, that dream led us to Night Drive Music where we came across Klartraum and from there followed their work to Lucidfow.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
Sanity for the world..!

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?
By truly knowing Yourself we can become a part of the Lucidflow and obtain the nature of our true self…so go ahead have a Lucid Dream.

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Hmmmm…..I can’t even say as i don’t think i am very creative.
When i make some tracks i just start somewhere and the rest is try and error…so not what people call a creative process. My tracks happen by accident.

how do you support yourself in being creative?

I have to force myself to sit down in the morning and start to work

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

as i already said i don’t think i am creative. my tracks are pure maths…not more and not less.
and maybe 25 years experience in djing.
so nothing has a negative effect on my creativity as there is none

how did you come across Lucidflow?

i’ve known nadja a while now….dont even know how and when we met….

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

my greatest wish is health for my family…thats it

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

i am pretty happy with my life so i don’t have any other wishes

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

In dub techno and electronic music I’ve found my dimension, so is easy for me to be creative. The problem is that when you try to make a fresh sound, sometimes the labels doesn’t like because is too different from you past release, but is not a problem because if you keep a good work you will find who believe in your projects.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

looking on vinyls chart, and following artist that I like that are releasing here.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

Probably atm my big wish is to see people love, smiling and respect more each others.

We are delighted to share 1.5 hours Lucid Podcast bliss with you mixed by Matteo Pitton. Thanks for your set and taking time to answer some little questions:
how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

At the moment i don’t have university lessons to attend, so i study and I do some houseworks,
but i always retail a good portion of my free time to listen stuff like new releases, promos, podcasts.
Sometimes i had some ideas on my mind and i say – now i try to express these.. so i open the
sequencer and that’s it, i start to play with synths, generators etc.

how do you support yourself in being creative?

Well, i think that the main source of creativity comes randomly, it’s not definied when i can be more crative or not, but of course it’s influenced by many facts that happen during my life.
Also hanging or chillin’ out with friends and people in bars or clubs stimulate my creativity, having a nice evening or a bad one obviously can make me feel good or so blue and depressed, but it’s part of this big process (if I should brutally define it with this word) I’m talking about, and I’m ok with that.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

As I partially said in the previous question, i’m sure that the absence of stimulations and an apathetic or monotonous life kills creativity. This make you creating junk tracks, in a total mechanical way, without love and expressivity.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

It’s difficult to remember when precisely, but i’m sure one of the first tracks i heard from Klartraum was featured on Soma rec. After i discovered that i heard more stuff of them and of Lucidflow and i definitely gained up my interest.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

Probably atm my big wish is to see people love, smiling and respect more each others.

thank you dear Anri for contributing in The Lucid Podcast with your damn groovy dj set…
Here’s what she told us in our little interview:

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

I normally start off with organic eggs on toast , some Vegemite , freshly allowed squeeze organic orange juice and by 2glasses of scotch then i head off to studio ;)

how do you support yourself in being creative?

it’s really difficult to continually support my creativity, luckily I have my boyfriend and record label always around to help .

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

when i am surrounded by electronic music all the time i really feel like I need to take a break. So a couple days off always helps.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

My boyfriend had a song signed to their latest compilation so I listened to all their other tunes and really loved it. It was a pleasure to be asked to do this mix.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

To be able to live a fulfilled life as a full time musician :-)

Each day is different, but I can immediately feel in the morning if I’m in the mood for creating something new. On these days I just start playing the keyboard or the drum machine without actually thinking of what will come out if it. I jam until I come up with something interesting and then I start to explore that idea. On creative days making music is a thoughtless process.

how do you support yourself in being creative?

Spending a weekend away from the studio and being on the countryside with my girl, friends and family is always a refreshing experience. After two days I just can’t wait to return and start working on new things again.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

The most important things is for me to keep the balance between my day job, private life and music because if there is something wrong in any of these areas it will affect the others as well.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

I came across the early Klartraum stuff that came out on 3rd Wave records and Night Drive music. Later when some labels started to release my music, I always saw the nice feedback from Nadja and thought that if I have something that will fit to the sound of the label, I will send it to her. After three months I had some tunes ready, sent it and the Dub Sessions EP was born.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

I have no grand master plan, but it would be nice to have some of my music pressed on vinyl someday and to play lots of great events of course.

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Peaceful and relaxed. Meditation and time in nature seem to help ‘recharge’ creativity, but in most cases in comes spontaneously.

how do you support yourself in being creative?

Doing the above and also not trying to force anything, just letting idea’s come and being experimental with no expectation.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

A lot of the time hearing what music is popular/released within the underground scene. Hearing people replicate each other in a lot of cases obvious ways is depressing and does a good job of killing my drive. It is the absolute opposite of originality and yet people place value in it, probably a lot of the time because it’s the only thing labels will sign. I think a lot of music can influence and whether conscious or unconsciously can create expectation in what you yourself think you will come up with, and so I think it’s best to have a blank canvas so to speak, upon which your original ideas can manifest without influence.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

Browsing beatport (the irony!) It was a Nadja Lind album I think and/or a compilation and honestly I was a bit blown away by the intricacy of the productions. The ‘sound’ in general was unique also and made them stand out.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

For everyone to wake up to the control system they live in and in most cases feed and accept.

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

Stop basing your decisions on what people do around you. Question what you are told is factual or best for you and use your own brain/heart. Be relaxed and lighthearted at all times and pay attention to your feelings.

Dub queen, good friend and amazing artist from Downunder DJ Trinity gives us a treat with her deep set on The Lucid Podcast 021… we wonder if you LIKE her flow as much as we do ;-) She’s also half of the production duo Trinity & Beyond who delivered a beautiful remix on Nadja Lind’s Brain Candy Album released 22.10.2012 (Beatport exclusive). Thank you dear, Lucidflow’s really proud about that! As usual we asked her some questions… read below while being drawn into her dub tech vortex…

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
I usually wake up at the crack of dawn and head into the studio, at lunch time i’ll go for a walk down King Street in Newtown (Sydneys Bohemian Suburb where i live) for a quick bite to eat, then head back into the studio until i cant keep my eyes open anymore.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
Plenty of me time to work on music, making sure im well rested so im very alert which is when i feel most creative. I also love to travel and see places I’ve never been before for creative inspiration.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
Probably when i have too later nights, which is usually caused from djing, so a bit of a catch 22

how did you come across Lucidflow?
I was introduced to the label by a friend who said the label which was very in-line with my sound. I became a big fan and got in touch with the label to tell them how much i loved their label. We have been friends ever since!

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
To travel to Europe next year for summer.

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?
Check out Trinity & Beyonds remix of Nadja Linds ‘A Choice’ coming out very soon on the label
<itunes:summary>Dub queen, good friend and amazing artist from Downunder DJ Trinity gives us a treat with her deep set on The Lucid Podcast 021... we wonder if you LIKE her flow as much as we do ;-) She's also half of the production duo Trinity & Beyond who delivered a beautiful remix on Nadja Lind's Brain Candy Album released 22.10.2012 (Beatport exclusive). Thank you dear, Lucidflow's really proud about that! As usual we asked her some questions... read below while being drawn into her dub tech vortex...

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Check out Trinity & Beyonds remix of Nadja Linds ‘A Choice’ coming out very soon on the label

show her some love on FACEBOOK

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
My day does not start creative one hour special, I wake up in the morning and eat breakfast or just coffee.
Then try to see something fun, for me to be happy and laugh is all

how do you support yourself in being creative?
I like to go whenever I can spend a few days at the cottage weekend of my parents, relax, open my laptop and usually leave things interesting

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
It keeps me from being creative moodiness, headaches, etc..

how did you come across Lucidflow?
I discovered Lucidflow through Nadja.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
Well one of my wishes is to start with the launch of my own label, I hope that comes to light in 2013.

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
I feel like I can tap in to my creative self whenever there is stillness. I’m able to listen to music with a deeper focus. It can be at 6am on a Saturday morning when the sun is coming up or it can be at midnight on a Tuesday night.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
I get inspiration from anything that is successful in making an artistic statement. This can be in the form of a piece of music, a painting, a good book or film, etc. I watched Heima- the Sigur Ros film again the other night. Achingly beautiful.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
I think people hinder themselves creatively when their lives are out of balance. You have to make time for life experiences because it’s these experiences- whether they be profoundly uplifting or deeply painful- that can lead to great art.

how did you come across Lucidflow?
Well, I’ve been a fan of the Silicone Soul guys for years. I reviewed Nadja’s ‘Shakes’ release on their Darkroom Dubs label for ElektroDaily.com. Her sound clicked with me immediately, and I started to explore the Lucidflow sound from there. I covered Terje Saether’s “Breed” release next, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
I want to get back into producing my own tracks and remixes. I’m inspired by people like Gui Boratto who incorporate live instrumentation into their productions. He has a lot of great New Order-esque guitar riffs throughout his music. I produced a track called “Submerge” which came out in ’09 on the Arabica label where I played this little riff on my Fender Stratocaster and twisted it around using the Pioneer EFX 1000. I have to get back to it. I felt like I was just scratching the surface…

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?
I found a great quote the other night: “Music is an outburst of the soul” –Frederick Delius

track list:
1. Leo & Thomas Grey – ‘Souvenir’ – Parquet

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
a creative day for me, looks like getting up early – like an early bird, then taking care of my animals and in summer also taking care of my little garden on the balcony. For me this feels like kind of a mediation. Afterward I feel really inspired by the early morning atmosphere while enjoying a good cappuccino.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
In giving my brain little rests. The most creative ideas I get while am taking a shower and using my hoover…hahaha, I know it sounds a little bit crazy. And also while I daydream…I am kind of multitasking ;)

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
paper work - I really do not like

how did you come across Lucidflow?
I think I met Nadja many many years ago for the first time. We often played together, I invited her several times to play at my venues. I think it was during our ‘Pulsar-Records’-time….Nadja, am I right? (Nadja: Yes you are! :D )

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
I always want to feel inspired by music and passionate about being creative with it and thinking outside the box

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
For me, it is like every other’s person working day.. I get up early around 8 or 9 and after I walk my dog I am ready for my studio session with a cup of coffee. As everything is at my home I have freedom to work when I feel that I am inspired, but mostly that is in the morning. I feel the most energetic then.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
For me, it is important to be inspired by a good party and good music, thats why I love to visit Berlin every few months and take at least 3-4 days to visit the clubs and hear the artist I want to on the good sound systems. Just to relax and to listen to the good music. That is what keep me motivated and inspired :) Also promos I got and some of the non electronic music I listen can inspire me as well :)

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
I hate deadlines, they are most of the time killer to my creativity, but luckily they don’t happen so often.
I enjoy a lot while I am at studio :)

how did you come across Lucidflow?
I first met Nadja and then I found out all about Lucidflow :)

tell us one of your greatest wishes:
Oh… there are soo many of them right now, but one on which I work lately and that may happen in 2013 is to move to Berlin. Fingers crossed! :)

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
Most of the times it is a proper moon day free from daily routine.

how do you support yourself in being creative?
By travelling, doing sports, listening to the good music, being with the family and friends. All the elements are like perpetual motion machine for generating new creative energy.

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?
I try not to do it, because there are a lot of circumstances that prevent us from being creative. But definitely some responsibilities and work may postpone my creativity process.

how did you come across Lucidflow?
I’ve heard few of the releases of Klartraum on junodownload.com and immediately got hooked up with the label.

LUCIE LEBEL

Here’s a little something about me: when I was about 10 years old I used to listen over and over again to the album Dark Side of The Moon from Pink Floyd. I was dancing in my parent’s basement all the time. One day, a friend made me listen to the album Renaissance from Deep Dish. I started listening to all of their albums..and also lots of Joris Voorn dj sets. I began to explore and hearing more about the 4 by 4 music. I developed a stronger passion about electronic music. I started buying tracks my own style. Then I got to thinking, why don’t I mix those tracks together? I have played deep house, techno and tech house in many famous clubs and afterhours in Montreal.
Some of the clubs I played in Stereobar, Salon Daome, Cherry, Circus Afterhours.. and many more. I played at Watergate in Berlin, with some artists whose music I really appreciate, like Simina Grigoriu, Ray Okpara, Sascha Braemer and Format:B. Here I am today, a huge lover of Techno music.

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

We usually start quite early 10 or 11 and work through till 5 or 6 – sometimes later if things are flowing, as we both have studios – mixes can be transfer easily and worked on later that night . Music making should be pretty liquid coming and going as we please

how do you support yourself in being creative?

Listening to lots of different types of music + watching films + reading books , as well as listening to the 1000′s of promos we receive every week , plus lots of other peoples sets on sites such as Soundcloud – all helps inspire the creative juices

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

Oh – not sure – it doesn’t happen that often – we do try and take time off from the studio from time to time – but to be honest with this career you always working – its not a job its a vocation

how did you come across Lucidflow?

From the singles on Beatport and the promo mail outs – hard to miss such a qualitative label – once your hooked on a label your always looking out for the next release

Watch out for our ( Slam ) Lucidflow remix in the future – its going to be a cracker

SLAM

INTRO: The legendary UK techno duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, touring Australia, the USA , Europe, South America and Japan and they hold residencies at 3 of the UK’s best clubs (Pressure [The Arches] & Return To Mono [Sub Club] in their home town of Glasgow and Fabric in the nation’s Capital, London). Their Soma Records label hits its 20th birthday this year, which is quite an achievement in any business never mind the music business. In this prestigious year Slam have also been nominated as the ‘Greatest Dance Act of All Time’ in the institutional UK Dance music magazine Mixmag.

SLAM ON FIRE: The last 3 years has been one of their busiest periods ever. Performing dynamic sets at many of the world’s leading festivals including Monegros, Oxygen, Bestival, 10 days off, Extrema, Glastonbury and T In The Park, they have also played at some of the world’s best clubs including the legendary Womb In Tokyo, Cocoon in Frankfurt, Rex in Paris and Berlin’s infamous Watergate and Berghain to name a few. They are about to celebrate 13 years of their illustrious club night Pressure @ the world famous Arches club in Glasgow and have also started their own Podcast series, recorded live from their Return To Mono club nights the Glasgow bunker, Sub Club. They have had a string of monster releases on their own PARAGRAPH & SOMA imprints, while releasing and remixing on Drumcode, Ovum, 8-Sided Dice, Material Series, Ibadan, and Mobilee.

PARAGRAPH: The first release City Destroyer, with its sinister pitched vocals and crafty, crisp and skippy electronic sound-scapes, secured club plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Laurent Garnier. Since the first release, Paragraph has avoided being pigeon-holed as they combine their love and talents for both House & Techno. Massive tracks like Hot Knives, Variance, Black Gold and Metro Noir have been working crowds the world over, whether it be to festivals of thousands bunkers of hundreds. Up next is the massive Chasing Shadows EP with two Slam originals that are sure to set light to dancefloors the world over.

REMIXES & RELEASES: This surge in activity has put them in demand as remixers. In the immediate future you can expect to see Slam interpretations of Carl Craig’s Paperclip People on Planet E and a massive new track from Alex Under, amongst others. You’ll also note future collabs with artists like Gary Beck and Paul Ritch. Slam have also been tied closely with Adam Beyer’s Drumcode imprint in the last 12 months, seeing 4 singles, Area 51, Crowded Room, Maffaking and Cacophony destroy dancefloors with a hybrid sound of Drumcode thwack and Slam groove. Two brand new tracks have just been signed to the Drumcode 15 Years compilation also. In the last year the duo have also remixed Spencer Parker, Christian Smith, Josh Wink, Paul Ritch, Pan-Pot, Radio Slave & Samuel L Session.

SOMA RECORDS: SLAM are also the proud co-owners of Soma Records, which, now in its 20th year, continues to be one of the world’s finest purveyors of cutting edge Electronic music. Soma’s recent releases and remixes include The Black Dog, Heiko Laux & Steve Rachmad, Adam Beyer, Joris Voorn, Silicone Soul, Gary Beck, Regis, Loco Dice, Mark Broom, Nick Curly, Mark Henning, Pan-Pot ++ and upcoming remixes of Slam originals from Carl Craig, Radio Slave, KiNK and Sebo K ++. The 20th birthday celebrations will go on throughout 2011/2012, seeing parties at festivals and clubs around the globe, plus a host of vinyl, digital and box set releases from friends and affiliates over the label’s 20 year history. Big names. Big tracks. Big year!!

SLAM GIGS: Slam have recently played at Space (Ibiza), Welcome To The Future (Holland), The Loft (Barcelona), SW4 (London) and of course the SLAM Tent at T In The Park (which they have organised since 1997) and they also performed live at Timewarp & Mayday Festivals in Germany and Awakenings & Extrema in Holland.
how does a creative day look/feel like for you?
Nowadays it’s very healthy: I wake up have a freshly ground coffee, Porridge and Manuka Honey. Do some exercises/Yoga and work on through the day making music :)

how do you support yourself in being creative?
In 2 ways: Spiritually I try and be kind on myself and nurture the voice inside my head that isn’t too harsh and critical. That voice is helpful because it’s what makes me an artist but it’s also important to nurture my confidence as well. Financially I support myself through Gigs.

The Lucid Podcast 006 – Silky:

how does a creative day look/feel like for you?

I start my days off pretty much the same, I have a good healthy breakfast, play the piano for an hour or so and then head to the gym. Around noon I go to the studio and start working on music. Starting off the day like this really helps with creativity. It gives me a clear mind and body!

how do you support yourself in being creative?

I try and keep a clear head and listen to all types of music. I also play the piano every day so sometimes I may jam something out on that and take that idea to the studio. However, despite all of this, I try to balance my creative and personal space. When it’s time to stop working, I stop! I’ve found that if i’m tired and trying to finish a record at the same time, I end up ruining it!

how do you hinder yourself from being creative?

I’m my own worst enemy, like I mentioned above, if i’m tired and forcing myself to finish a record, then no doubt I will end up ruining it. It’s best to get good rest and a clear head. Also, the rare times I have a hangover hinders me from anything!!

have u ever dreamt of music?

I never remember my dreams. I believe sometimes I don’t sleep, I just go into a coma.

how did you come across Lucidflow?

I was a fan of Nadja’s and Helmut’s music for a while, and then a couple of years ago Nadja asked me to remix Klartraum – Growth. We have been friends ever since!

tell us one of your greatest wishes:

To be able to fly like Superman.

anything else you would spread to the Lucid world?

Project your thoughts, wishes and dreams through your mind into space. If you can see it in front of you, it makes it easier to reach…

Track List:

1. Nitin – Blink Twice (Anthony Collins Remix) – My Favorite Robot
2. Nadja Lind, Paul Loraine – Great Mistake – Lucidflow
3. Bazar – Hard to Find (Danny Daze Love Dub) – Ellum
The Lucid Podcast 005 crafted by Hafed Marzouk , Tunesia – the newest deep surreal thought flow for your listening pleasure….

“Surreal Thinking”

“Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings.
Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists and writers regard their work as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the works being an artifact. Leader André Breton was explicit in his assertion that Surrealism was above all a revolutionary movement.
Surrealism developed out of the Dada activities during World War I and the most important center of the movement was Paris. From the 1920s onward, the movement spread around the globe, eventually affecting the visual arts, literature, film, and music of many countries and languages, as well as political thought and practice, philosophy, and social theory.” – wikipedia.com

“Thought generally refers to any mental or intellectual activity involving an individual’s subjective consciousness. It can refer either to the act of thinking or the resulting ideas or arrangements of ideas. Similar concepts include cognition, sentience, consciousness, and imagination.Because thought underlies almost all human actions and interactions, understanding its physical and metaphysical origins, processes, and effects has been a longstanding goal of many academic disciplines including, among others, biology, philosophy, psychology, and sociology.
Thinking allows beings to make sense of or model the world in different ways, and to represent or interpret it in ways that are significant to them, or which accord with their needs, attachments, objectives, plans, commitments, ends and desires.” – wikipedia.com

our big Lucidflow and Klartraum fan and supporter Ivan Draco aka Ken Lardo is presenting The Lucid Podcast No. 4 for you!

Ivan Draco aka Ken Lardo (real name: Fredrik Stensrud) resides in Oslo, Norway. His love for techno has been displayed in the northern capitol`s various venues for the past decade. Draco has his own semi-annual club night named LivePinto where he plays along with both Norwegian and foreign artists. In January 2011 he played in Berlin at Mein Haus am See and Sanatorium.
Whereas the life of the investment banker, skateboarder and DJ; Ivan Draco may be versatile, his style of music is inherently monotone and minimal. Still, in the deep, steady beats you can always sense adaptation, and when the break suddenly comes, it strikes harder than a stock market crash. From the cold, harsh winter of Norway comes a mix of subtle aggression, to be enjoyed with headphones in a blizzard or dancing in a dark concrete basement.

Biography of Hall North

Hailing from the industrial landscape of Teesside in North East England, Hall North (real name, Stephen Thompson) has risen to notoriety recently due to his remix of Harvey Mckay’s ’69′ on Soma.

A classically trained pianist with huge enthusiasm for all things electronic and a life-long fan of bands like Depeche Mode and New Order, Hall North draws inspiration from a diverse pallette of influences, from Brian Eno to Frankie Knuckles, Ennio Morricone to Buriel and everything inbetween.

Although house music was always his first love, he has dabbled in the indie electro scene, playing synths in electro group Coldseat and promoting and spinning at many a crossover indie-electro clubnight in his native Teesside.

Then, in 2009, he returned to his rightful place, in the warm and loving embrace of house. Since then, he’s released a string of tracks on various labels, including Soma and Fade and been commissioned for several remixes. His tracks have found there way into the boxes of a diverse array of DJs such as Timo Maas, Stacey Pullen, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg and picked up plays played on Ministry of Sound and Ibiza Sonica Radio.

Much like the landscape surrounding his home town, Hall North’s tracks and sets encompass all that is deep/ethereal and dark/beautiful about house and techno music and emphasise the pure bitter sweet emotion that makes dancefloor experiences so memorable.

Nadja Lind Biography

In the moment when strangers are surrounded by and pulsating to the same rhythm, Nadja Lind is in her element. Her deeply spiritual take on life that is reflected in her DJ sets and productions, Nadja believes that music is the one language everybody knows and feels immediately. Striving to harness this is her muse.

Spinning her debut set on New Year’s Eve 2003, her prowess on the decks has taken her across Europe as well as to the US and India, including the Space Ibiza World Tour in 2007, to the million people Zurich Street Parade and the International Film Festival in Venice.

The impulse of life through music has given Nadja the strength in her convictions to form production duo/live act Klartraum with partner Helmut Ebritsch. In 2008 the pair founded their own label Lucidflow to push artists that they truly believe in, as well as their own productions.

Fascinated by the balance of dark and light her formative introduction to music saw Led Zeppelin, Slayer and Metallica all favourites before she was drawn to the unity of the dance floor. Now focusing her energy into deep, tech and minimal house, Her formidable production CV includes Darkroom Dubs, Outpost, BBE, Gastspiel, Lucidflow, Vitalik/We Love Space, Ministry of Sound, Parquet, Absurd Records, her own Imprint Lucidflow and many more.

Already breaking through to wider audiences, her remix of Gez Varley’s G11 was voted into the Groove Magazine’s TOP10 remixes of 2008 alongside Dubfire, Carl Craig, Joris Voorn and DJ Koze, while her own Pancake spent weeks at No. 1 on Beatport’s Ministry of Sound Top Downloads.

Nadja is constantly looking to bring disconnected people together through her music,

inspired by house and techno’s primal ability to create unity through a thumping kick drum. Creating a positive vibe that transcends a dark room filled with beats, she looks to fill her floor with smiles and empathy, an experience not just musical but of self discovery. From playing block flute and acoustic guitar as a child, in December 2010 she performed her first solo live Set at Berlin’s notorious Maria Club.

Part of the Berlin scene that inspired her to drive the 666 mile route from Manheim before she moved to the city, the endless inspiration that the German capital serves up has fueled her creativity, allowing her to explore many sides of her artistic self. The desire to find people on the same musical tip caused her to leave her native Rhineland, with a label, solo DJ gigs and as one half of Klartraum, she has rarely looked back.
